Educator of the Year

Patrick Christensen

Instructor Named Educator of the Year

Butte College instructor Patrick Christensen was named “Educator of the Year” by the Chico Noon Rotary Club. Christensen serves as both the Business Education Chair and Accounting/Business instructor. Each year, the Chico Noon Rotary Club presents "Educator of the Year" awards to recognize outstanding teachers at each public high school in Chico as well as Butte College and Chico State University.

“I wasn’t at all surprised when I heard Patrick had been selected as Rotary Educator of the Year,” said Kam Bull, Butte College Dean of Student Learning. “He exemplifies the qualities of an exceptional educator.” Bull went on to share feedback from Christensen’s students to support why Christensen was a natural choice for the award. These included comments such as “He’s an awesome teacher and really helpful”; “He is enthusiastic” and “He wants you to be successful!”

Christensen holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor in Accounting from the University of Utah where he graduated magna cum laude and as a Dean's Scholar. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Prior to joining Butte College, Patrick worked as a financial advisor and as controller of a small international business. Patrick’s been quoted in Financial Advisor magazine, Physician's Personal Advisory, Detroit Free Press, Journal of Financial Planning, and on Bloomberg.com. He has written for the Journal of Financial Planning, NAPFA Advisor, and Catalyst Magazine.
