Butte College Celebrates Día De Los Muertos

a graphivc featuring sugar skulls and names and times of events as described in press releaseThe Butte College Culture & Community Center (CCC) will celebrate the season of Día De Los Muertos with a series of events beginning this Thursday, Oct. 28 and concluding on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

In honor of the holiday, the CCC has assembled an ofrenda (altar) in tribute to the memories of loved ones who have passed. Students, faculty and staff have contributed photos which will be featured on display.

On Monday, Nov. 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the CCC will host “Decolonizing Día De Los Muertos,” which is an opportunity to educate on how to respectfully observe the historical holiday. On Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. a festive sugar skull decorating opportunity will be available, and  hot chocolate and pan dulce, served to attendees. All events take place at Swing Space F-102 located at Butte College Main Campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive, Oroville.
